Micro switch sourcing & engineering FAQs

Answers about Unionwell switch selection, samples, drawings, certification scope, quotations and OEM project validation.

Clear answers before you inquire.

Which micro switch should I start with?

Start with the mechanism and circuit: actuation direction, available space, operating point, travel, electrical load, temperature and water or dust exposure. The selection guide provides published configuration references; engineering confirms the complete part number.

Can I read technical information before submitting a form?

Yes. Open the technical reference PDFs in Resources and the text specification tables on supported product pages. A current controlled drawing or model-specific approval requires the complete part number and application context.

Can Unionwell review an existing part for replacement?

Send the existing manufacturer, complete part number, drawing, load and required approvals. A Unionwell candidate is reviewed separately. Similar dimensions or a similar series name do not establish drop-in compatibility.

How do I request 2D or 3D drawings?

Use the CAD request form with the complete part number, actuator, terminal and required file format. If the model is unknown, describe the mechanism first. Availability and drawing revision are confirmed during engineering review.

What should I include in an OEM quotation request?

Include the proposed part number or application, voltage and current, load type, contact arrangement, force and travel constraints, environment, requested quantity, annual forecast and target timing. Drawings and BOMs are optional attachments.

How are samples and production lead time confirmed?

Sample, pilot and repeat-production needs are reviewed separately against the selected configuration, tooling, approval requirements and quantity. The team confirms availability and timing after review.

Does an ISO or IATF certificate approve every switch?

No. Management-system certificates apply to the stated organization, site and scope. Product approvals and ratings must be checked for the exact complete part number, load, temperature grade and certificate conditions.

Can one IP reference be applied to the whole assembly?

No. Review the selected switch configuration, mounting, actuator interface, cable outlet and connector sealing together. Component protection does not certify the complete enclosure or mechanism.

What happens after I send a request?

The website stores the inquiry and generates a request reference before sending notifications. Sales reviews the configuration and coordinates engineering. An automatic receipt is attempted at submission; it is not a quotation or delivery confirmation.

Who receives my project files and contact details?

Customer inquiries go to the Unionwell sales team. Optional engineering files are stored outside the public site and accessed through an authorized inquiry record. Website operations reports exclude inquiry text, customer contact details and attachments.
